Dubai hotels continue to enjoy strong occupancy levels this summer despite the bleak global economic climate and continually rising fuel prices, industry experts have said.  Emaar assumes control of five-star hotel

The Address Hotels and Resorts, the new hotel brand launched by Emaar Hospitality Group (EHG), will assume the management and operations of The Palace, The Old Town hotel in Downtown Burj Dubai. The five-star property was earlier managed by Sofitel, the hotel management brand of French Accor Group.

Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH), the UAE's leading diversified hotel, tourism, transport and catering company, today announced a net profit of Dh276.7 million for the second quarter of 2008 marking a 5.6 percent increase over Dh262 million in profit recorded by the company during the corresponding period in 2007.

 Air Arabia breaks ground on construction of its budget hotel

Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, announced today that it has begun construction of the 300-room budget hotel at Sharjah Airport. The company also announced that it has appointed Gustav Pegel and Sohn as general contractor for the hotel, which is due for completion in January 2010.

The hotel accommodation classification system recently launched by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) is being recommended by the Arab Tourism Ministerial Council (ATMC) as a paradigm for regional best practice. The system, launched following two years of collaborative planning with the emirate's private sector, has been referred to the ATMC's technical secretariat to be recommended as a benchmark practice for other Arab destinations.

 Dubai to introduce new rule for hotel classification

Dubai will soon introduce an amended rule for hotel classification in the emirate. Director General, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Khalid A. Bin Sulayem disclosed yesterday that the new classification has been thoroughly revised by experts and it is time for its introduction.
