 Battle against corruption 'will spare no one regardless of rank'

The UAE Government is committed to fighting corruption, enhancing performance and ensuring accountability for the benefit of its citizens, top officials said on Monday. "The government is committed to combating corruption however large or sensitive in keeping with instructions from the political leadership," Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, told Gulf News.

 Fighting corruption is top priority for Dubai Government

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, a local law establishing Dubai Community Development Authority (DCDA) as a government entity mandated with enhancing social development and national identity, as well as strengthening citizens and resident's role in social life. General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces yesterday presided over the weekly meeting of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The Council members discussed a number of topics on the agenda. The Council awarded a contract to construct a labour camp at Razeen area. They also approved a memorandum by the public projects committee on construction of a dual carriageway road between Bani Yas and Al Hulaila.

The UAE has ranked among the more peaceful nations in the world in a survey measuring crime rates, arms sales and human rights.
The Emirates ranked 42nd out of 140 countries assessed in the Global Peace Index, compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit – above Madagascar but below Lithuania.
Iceland was rated as the most peaceful country in the world, ahead of Denmark and Norway. Iraq measured as the least peaceful, while the US, also fared poorly, coming 97th.
