Etihad Moscow flights to launch in December Posted on 19/08/2008
Etihad Airways will launch flights to the Russian capital, Moscow, from its Abu Dhabi home base on Monday 1 December 2008. Flights to the Kazakhstan capital, Almaty, will commence on the following day, Tuesday 2 December. Etihad becomes first Gulf airline to fly to Belarus Posted on 07/08/2008
Etihad Airways became the first airline from the Gulf region to fly to Belarus this week when the Abu Dhabi-based carrier launched a twice-weekly service to the country's capital, Minsk. FlyDubai has hired the former chief of the defunct US-based Skybus Airlines to oversee plans for the mid-2009 launch of Dubai's new budget carrier. Emirates airline, the UAE's national carrier, said yesterday it will operate the world's largest passenger aircraft three times a week on its New York-Dubai route (EK202/EK201) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
"After eventually being incorporated in Emirates' twice-daily service to New York, the quieter, greener aircraft will be deployed on the London Heathrow route from 1st December and on the Sydney and Auckland services from February next year," it added in a press release.

Air Arabia net profit soars to Dh160 million in first half of 2008, up 39 per cent Posted on 04/08/2008
Air Arabia announced yesterday its financial results for the period ending June 30, 2008, demonstrating continued superior performance and ongoing organic growth. The company's net profit for the first half of this year stood at Dh160 million, an increase of 39 per cent compared to Dh115 million for the first six months of last year. Air Arabia's net profit for the second quarter of this year reached Dh82 million, up 14 per cent compared to Dh71.7 million for the second quarter of 2007.
